Christmas

So Christmas is finally over. Too bad though, it's short. And the worst part is I worked Christmas Eve and day... =( That's one of the downside of working in the medical field... there's no such thing as holidays off... lolz.. but it's all good I guess..

Christmas Eve, after work, I went straight to buy my last minute Christmas presents. And believe it or not, I am not the only one doing this! Almost all the stores I went to had long cashier lines.. sigh! And I have waiting.. hahaha! Then I planned to have my last-minute pedi and manicure. But of course, the nail salon I go to is already close... =( So I went back home and started getting ready since we're going to eat at my in-law's house. While getting ready, we talked to my parents and brother online, who are celebrating Christmas in the Philippines. I miss the Christmas in the Phils. .. i miss spending time with my fam, the great delicious foods, and just being there where you can really feel that Christmas is in the air... One of my ultimate wish before I get too old to travel, is to spend another Christmas in the Philippines. But I'm not too sure when it will happen, but I'll make it happen somehow... lolz...

So we went to my in-laws' house. They were supposed to go to 8pm mass, and we were supposed to go to 12mn mass since my hubby's still at work til 11pm. But we all finally decided to go to the midnight mass. So we just hang out at the house until then. It sucks though coz I didn't bring my clothes for church, so I ended up wearing whatever I'm wearing that day.

We finally went to church and after the mass, we went back to my in-law's house and watched the younger ones and my parents, open their presents from us. We were all in a budget this year, that we agreed that all the older ones, don't have to exchange presents this year... we might resume it next year, who knows... maybe when the economy is better. ;)

So after that, we went home and now, we opened our presents... One thing for sure, i'm happy with what my baby gave me.. I've always wanted a Canon Rebel XS, but everytime I asked for it, my husband always says no. He said, I don't need it and what we need is a sound system for the house... lolz.. But i continue to argue that yeah, I don't really need it right now, but i "want" it! And i know i can't always get what I want, but for this christmas, I did! =)

Yey, so the next step is learning how to use it! lolz.. So after opening our presents, we all went to bed since it's been a long and busy day.

Christmas day, nothing really special... We all went to work, except for my brother, who opted to play basketball on Christmas day.

And today, after-Christmas, I am blogging in front of my laptop, and sick. Urgh! i hate being sick. I hope i'll feel better soon...

So how's your Christmas? ;)

Christmas Pot Luck

December 15, 2008. We had a small pot luck Christmas party at work. I was actually off but I dropped by and share some time with them. It was great. There's a lot of food and laughter. I am so full by the time I went home. =)

I made small gifts to the CNAs I'm working with. It is basically to let them know that I remembered them and that I appreciate all the things that they do. It's all hard work! All the nurses who works at a facility like mine, knows how important it is to work with the CNAs that you can trust since they are our "eyes and ears". So yeah, and they did appreciate it, I think. ;)

So I knitted some "dishcloths" and bought some moisturizing soaps at B&BW. I have some ribbons left from my stash so i went ahead and put a ribbon together and ta-dah! I bought some small paper bags and put then there. I think it turned out great.. =)

Halloween Scrap pages

Ok... to start with, I'm not the type of person who usually go out and party. I like house parties rather than going to the bar or clubs. I guess that's a sign of getting old? eerrrr... not really. I guess i'm just born that way... teehee..

So anyways, my sis-in-law's family from California, came down to P'cola and so we thought, maybe we can all hang out then.. so first, we went with my nephew, Everett, to his very first trick-or-treating. Well, I should say, it was also my first since in the Philippines, we have a different way of celebrating halloween. So we had fun! hahaha.. not sure if Everett did though.. but he's uber cute in his costume! I just love him... sigh...

So after that, we went to the Suite, which is one of the clubs in P'cola... (let me tell you, there's not much choices here...). It is a fairly decent place. Of course there's a lot of people there. It was a great experience. A lot of firsts happened that day.. to me and to my nephew. ;)

Christmas Knitting

So.. i've been doing small knitting projects lately... mostly just to relax my mind. I usually knit at work during my very quick 30-minute breaks. lolz.

i made some Christmas stockings based on the pattern Knitted Pooh Stocking available at http://www.wrights.com/wrights/class/needlework/poohstocking/poohstocking.htm I just made stripes rather than plain color and i didn't add any applique.
I used US 8 DPNs and the yarns are just good ol' acrylic yarn i have on hand.

I also made some mini socks which i hang in our Christmas tree. Pattern available at: http://carissaknits.blogspot.com/2007/06/mini-holiday-stockings.html This is very easy and quick knit. I used the same scrap yarns i have using US 7 DPNs

The mini mittens are available at http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mini-mittens-4 I think i used US 3 needles, but im not sure anymore.. urgh.. i have to start writing things out.

And of course the mini sweaters.. they are sooo cute! i have to look for the pattern since i can't find it... =(

More knitting projects coming up...

Happy holidays!
